Henry’s Deep Fried Tofu
This recipe is based off of my family’s Indonesian fried tofu recipe, and has been adapted for small batches.
Ingredients
- 19 oz package of firm tofu
- 1 tbsp salt
- 6 in lemongrass, diced
- 1/2 tbsp ground corriander
- 1 1/2 cups water
- oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Boil water and pour into a bowl
- Add salt, ground corriander, and diced lemongrass to the bowl of water and mix to create a marinade
- Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes
- Add tofu to a container and layer with marinade
- Cover container and set aside in refrigerator for 1-3 days
- Add enough oil to a wok for deep frying
- Heat oil on high heat until suitable for frying
- Reduce heat to medium-high
- Place small batches of tofu gently into the wok
- Fry until golden, separating the tofu to fry evenly
- Place fried tofu on paper towel to remove excess oil
- Repeat until all tofu is fried
