Vishwajeet’s Dal Tadka
This is a quick, healthy and tasty curry. Can be eaten with rice or indian breads
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup yellow lentils
- finely chopped garlic ( 2 cloves)
- finely chopped green chilli
- pinch of mustard seeds
- pinch of cumin seeds
- 2 teaspoon oil
- salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
- finely chopped corriander
Instructions
- Wash lentils. Soak it in double the volume of water for 2-3 minutes
- Cook them in a pressure cooker
- Transfer the cooked lentils in a pan. Add some water if they are too dry
- Add turmeric, salt and chilli powder. Stir well and bring to a boil
- While the lentils are simmering, prepare the ‘tadka’
- Heat another pan and add oil
- Add mustard and cumin seeds. Wait till they crackle
- Add the garlic and green chilli
- Once the spices start breaking down and giving a nice smell dunk the mixture in the lentils
- Give the entire mixture a slight stir.
