Ishaan’s Doughnuts
I really like making desserts from time to time and doughnuts are my favourite dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup whole milk
- One pack (2 1/4 teaspoon) of active dry yeast
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted and cooled
- 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 quarts vegtable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Warm the milk to about 90F deg and add yeast. Stir the mixture and let it set for 5-8 minutes.
- Using a mixer, beat the eggs, butter, sugar, and salt into the yeast mixture.
- Add the flour to the mixture.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface.
- Let dough rise at room temperature until it doubles in size.
- Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter.
- Put doughnuts onto floured baking sheets, cover with a damp kitchen towel and let it rise for an hour.
- Put oil in a cast iron pot, and heat to about 380F deg.
- Carefully add doughnuts to oil, and flip when bottoms are golden.
- Let doughnuts cool on a cooling rack.
- Add any fillings.
